Ford and Shelby revealed at this year's New York auto show the 2012 Mustang GTS, which is a successor to the 2007-2008 GT model. The Ford Shelby GTS will be put on sale with a choice between two engines, a V6 and a V8. Ford's new Mustang Shelby GTS V6 will have a 3.7-liter engine while the V8 will hide under its hood a 5.0-liter unit. The power and torque output of the new Ford Shelby GTS will be announced at a later date. So are the 0 to 60 mph acceleration time and its top speed.

The development of the Ford Shelby GTS started when the 2011 Mustang was first launched, and involved Ford Racing, Borla, Baer and Shelby American. In comparison to the standard Mustang, the Shelby GTS has an improved suspension system, a higher horsepower output and bigger brakes.

The price for the Ford Shelby GTS post-title package starts at 9,995 USD. You can further enhance you Mustang by adding a supercharger and other options. Ford will start accepting orders for the Shelby GTS yesterday and says it will put it into production in the fourth quarter of 2011.
