Honda, Nissan And Toyota On Japan Earthquake

As most of you already know, there has been a major earthquake in Japan this morning, causing huge amounts of damage, and quite a few victims. Honda, Nissan and Toyota have already made statements regarding this unfortunate event. All three major car manufacturers have closed some of their Japanese based plants, while Honda is reporting having casualties among its employees.

Today's earthquake, which was also followed by a major tsunami, which caused even more devastation. Honda calls today's earthquake as being the in the recorded history.

Honda stated that its major priority at the moment is giving a helping hand where it is able to. The Japanese car manufacturer also confirmed

that it has registered one fatality at Honda R&D Co. Ltd in Tochigi prefecture. Apart from this, they also report they suffered around 30 injuries. The activity at Honda's Saitama factory has been suspended, but the Suzuka factory has now resumed production.

Nissan reported that it has closed four of its plants in Tochigi, Kanagawa, Kanagawa and Fukushima. Nissan's statement says only a few of its workers suffered minor injuries.

This earthquake spells major disaster for the Japanese car companies on the financial level too. Toyota's shares plummeted by 3.8 percent on the Frankfurt stock market. Nissan and Honda will probably follow.
