The Honda EV-STER concept has its world debut today in Japan, at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show. The EV-STER is Honda's latest electric small sports concept, measuring 3,570mm in length, 1,500mm in width and 1,100mm in height. Honda's new electric rear-wheel-drive two-seater convertible has a 2,325mm wheelbase and it's made using a lot of carbon fiber for a low overall weight. To power the new EV-STER, Honda chose and electric motor juiced by 10kWh lithium-ion battery with an output of 58kW. The EV-STER Honda is rated with a maximum range of 160km. It can be fully recharged in under 3 hours from a 200V outlet, or in under 6 hours from a 100V one.

Honda says that the new EV-STER can reach a top speed of 160 km/h and that it requires 5 seconds for the zero to 62-mph (100 km/h) acceleration.

One of the most interesting features of the EV-STER is its twin-lever steering, which hopes to improve the driving experience. Honda's EV-STER lets the driver choose from various suspension setups and power outputs.

At the interior, the Honda EV-STER features an innovative instrument panel, which, apart from the regular gauges, features a vehicle information display. The new display offers information regarding the EV-STER's audio, and navigation systems, as well as Internet access.

So far, Honda did not announce when, or if, the EV-STER electric concept will go into production.
