Jaguar released today the first details of the C-X16 concept, together with a teaser sketch of the new vehicle. Although they did not release a whole lot of details regarding the new C-X16 Jag, the company did announce that it will premiere it at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Auto Show next month. Jaguar calls the C-X16 a production concept, which is going to set the benchmarks in design, vehicle dynamics and technology for future sports cars. This means that, even if Jaguar will not put the C-X16 into production, future Jags will be based on this new concept.

The Jaguar C-X16 Concept sketch released by the company previews a two-door coupe sports car, with a muscular appearance, that will set a new design language for the brand.

The C-X16 will be revealed on Wednesday September 7, and it will have its first public appearance on Monday, September 12, at 17:00 in Frankfurt City Center.

As the concept neared completion Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars commented: "Great Jaguars have always been beautiful, innovative and have looked firmly to the future. The finished C-X16 concept has the potential to do these things while retaining the ability to surprise, to excite and invigorate."

Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars commented: "Jaguar has set in place bold, ambitious plans for the future. This production concept demonstrates the depth of design and engineering ability we have within Jaguar to make these plans come to life – I look forward to sharing this latest, exciting step at the Frankfurt Motor Show."

We will have more details on Jaguar's C-X16 concept as soon as they're available.
