Jaguar revealed at the 2013 NY International Auto Show the high-performance version of the new XJ, which is called the XJR, obviously. The new Jaguar XJR (2014) comes with the 5.0-litre V8 supercharged gasoline engine, which puts out 405 kW (550 PS) at 6,500 rpm and 502 lb-ft (680 Nm) of torque between 2,500 and 5,500 rpm. The power goes to the XJR's rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. With this powertrain, the XJR Jag is able to get from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and to reach en electronically limited top speed of 174 mph. Jaguar rates the XJR with a 24.4 mpg combined fuel economy and with 270 g/km CO2 emissions. Apart from the powerful engine, the Jaguar XJR comes with improved aerodynamics, which include a front splitter, and a discreet boot lid spoiler.

The XJR is fitted with quad tailpipes, various R badges and a bespoke interior. Jaguar's design team uses semi-aniline leather and veneers in either Carbon Fiber or Piano Black for XJR's various interior parts. The XJR comes equipped as standard with a 380W, 12-speaker surround-sound system developed by Meridian, or an optional 825W, 18-speaker system with a Trifield System developed by the same manufacturer.

The Jaguar XJR comes with a revised Electronic Active Differential, a reprogrammed DSC system, 20-inch wheels and Pirelli PZero Corsa tires.

Its brakes have been upgraded to 380mm discs at the front and 376mm ones at the rear. The XJR's engine is equipped with spray-guided direct injection (SGDI) and dual-independent variable cam timing (DIVCT), as well as an Intelligent Stop/Start system.

The Jaguar XJR's price and availability are going to be announced at a later date. Meanwhile, you can review all of the XJR's specifications here.
