Lotus revealed today the new track-only Elise S Cup R race car. The Lotus Elise S Cup R is powered by the 1.8 liter 2ZR-FE supercharged engine that features dual VVT-i, 16 valves, Magnuson R900 supercharger and Eaton TVS technology. The engine of the Cup R Elise S is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Lotus says that the Cup R version of the Elise S has a higher horsepower output in comparison to the road-going model thanks to a motorsport engine control module (ECM). However, Lotus does not disclose the actual power and torque output of the Elise S Cup R. The new race comes with a bespoke aerodynamic package, called CFD that includes a front splitter, barge boards, winglets, a rear diffuser, floor extensions and a rear wing.
The Elise S Cup R weighs 924 kg, which is the same as the road legal version. Thanks to the extra downforce created by the body kit, and the new adjustable damper and springs settings, the Elise S Cup R is 4 seconds faster than the Elise S on a 5 km lap.
