Daimler announced today its plans for the Mercedes brand for years 2010 and 2011. The company has announced the launch of Mercedes BlueDIRECT V6 and V8 engines and of 16 new models. The new Mercedes BlueDIRECT V6 and V8 engines will be launched this fall and promise to need 24 percent less fuel than their predecessors. The new Mercedes BlueDIRECT V6 and V8 engines will join the four-cylinder units that are already equipping the company's models.

Also this autumn, apart from the new Mercedes BlueDIRECT V6 and V8 engines, the company will also launch its ECO start/stop function as standard throughout its model line-up.

Daimler also announced today that in 2010 and

2011 will launch 16 new or updated models. These include two new models from the compact segment, which will be joined at a later time by another two from the same family. The Mercedes B-Class F-Cell and the A-Class E-Cell together with the smart fortwo electric drive will also be launched during this period.

The new models which will be launched by Mercedes in 2010 and 2011 include three series production vehicles with alternative drives and zero local emissions.
