Mercedes is slowly ushering in the new AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine, which replaces the previous 6.2-liter V8. Today, Mercedes announced that the E63 AMG, both sedan and Estate, will be powered by the 5.5-liter V8 biturbo unit, which has an increased power output and a lower fuel consumption.

The Mercedes E63 AMG 5.5 V8 biturbo hides under its hood a 5461 cc engine developing 386 kW (525 hp) at 5250-5750 rpm and 700 Nm of torque at 1750-5000 rpm. when equipped with the AMG Performance package, the E63 AMG 5.5 V8 develops 410 kW (557 hp) at 250-5750 rpm and 800 Nm of torque at 2000-4500 rpm. In performance figures this translates into a 4.3 second (4.4 seconds for the Estate) 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration time and

a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). With the Performance Package, Merc's E63 AMG 5.5 V8 needs only 4.2 seconds (4.3 s for the Estate) for the sprint to 62 mph.

Mercedes says the new 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine of the 2012 E63 AMG reduces the fuel consumption, in comparison to the 6.2-liter unit, by 2.8 liters per 100 km. This means that the Mercedes E63 AMG 5.5 V8 has a 9.8 liters (10.0 l - Estate) per 100 kilometers combined fuel consumption and a 230 g/km (234 g/km - Estate) CO2 emissions level.



The Mercedes E63 AMG 5.5 V8 is equipped with newly developed electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive sports steering system, which is engaged only when the vehicle is actually being steered.

If you decide to equip your new E63 AMG 5.5 V8 with the Performance Package, Mercedes will fit it with the RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension, a rear axle locking differential with 40 percent locking action, and a ceramic high-performance composite braking system. they also remove the top speed limiter, which means you'll be able to go with 300 km/h.

The Performance package also includes a few styling cues, such as an AMG Exterior Carbon package, illuminated door sill panels, and new 19 inch light alloy wheels.

The Mercedes E63 AMG 5.5 V8 biturbo price starts at 105,971 Euros, for the sedan and at 108,409 Euros for the Estate. If you want the Performance Package with your new E63 AMG 5.5 V8 biturbo, Mercedes will charge you an extra 8,306.20 Euros. If you also want the 300 km/h top speed, it will cost you an additional 3,213 Euros.
