Mercedes announced today the name of their new van, which will be called the Citan. Mercedes Citan's name is derived from the words 'City' and 'Titan', which suggest its main purpose: to be a reliable working horse for use in urban areas. Mercedes will premiere the new Citan van at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hanover, this September. The Citan will go on sale soon after. Its price will be announced at a later date. The Mercedes-Benz Citan is designed to aid the service industry and the retail sector, where it can be useful for a broad range of tasks.
The Citan is smaller than its siblings (the Mercedes Sprinter and the Vito) are, but it promises the same level of quality, dependability and safety.
It comes with ESP and several other safety systems.
Even though Mercedes did not disclose any specifics at this point, it did mention that the Citan is going to be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The BlueEFFICIENCY technology will also be available, making the Citan one of the most efficient vans on the market today. Mercedes also announced that an electric version of the Citan is already in development.
The Mercedes Citan will be available in a range of configurations, including a panel van, a crewbus and a Mixto. Various lengths and weight categories will also be available.
