Manheim announced that it has registered a Mercedes SLR McLaren record auction at its center in Colchester. The previous Mercedes SLR McLaren record auction of 160,500 pounds has been smashed by the latest 187,000 pounds.
In the same day Manheim also auctioned a 326,000 pounds Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead, a Phantom salon, an Aston Martin Vanquish, an Audi R8, a Bentley Flying Spur and a Porsche 911 Carrera S convertible.
The remaining vehicles will be auctioned at Colchester on 8th July, 9th September and 11th November this year.

Just weeks after Manheim sold a McLaren Mercedes SLR for £160,500 the auction giant has increased this record to £187,000 with another McLaren selling under the hammer at its Colchester center.
The 2007 model finished in Osmian Grey was one of array of mouth-watering luxury and stunning performance cars in this latest Manheim Prestige Sale. The entry of over 60 cars featured a
08 plate Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead in Diamond Black, 57 plate Phantom salon, a 57 plate Aston Martin Vanquish, an 07 Audi R8, an 07 Bentley Flying Spur and a 57 plate Porsche 911 Carrera S convertible.
With over 300 buyers in attendance, one could have been forgiven for not realising there was supposed to be an economic downturn in the UK, as bidding reached heights normally the preserve of works of art. The sale of the McLaren was electrifying as the offers climbed up to the selling price but perhaps the most exhilarating of moments was when the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead appeared in the hall.
The audience were stunned into an eerie silence as interest went over the £300,000 level and rose steadily to £326,000 which, despite being nearly 7% over its cost new, was not enough to tempt the owner to sell!
