You probably already have all the details of the new Mercedes SLS AMG, so, we'll just present the original 1954 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing which represented the car of the day at the time it was launched. The power comes from a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder gasoline engine developing 215 hp at 5800 rpm and 203 lb-ft of torque at 4600 rpm. With a total weight of 1293 kg, the 1954 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing had quite the power-to-weight ratio for that period. The top speed of the 1954 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing was rated at 135 mph and the 0 to 60 mph acceleration time at 8.8 seconds. The price for this beauty was 300,000 GBP in today's money.
