Porsche is confirming today the rumors that surfaced yesterday regarding the Panamera Turbo S. The German sports car manufacturer released today the full details of the new Porsche Panamera Turbo S, which becomes the company's top of the line, four-door luxury sedan model. As expected, Porsche's Panamera Turbo S comes with a 4.8 liter, V8 biturbo engine developing 550 hp (410 kW) and 750 Nm of torque. This is 50 hp and 50 Nm of torque more than the Panamera Turbo. If equipped with Porsche's Sport Chrono Package, the Panamera Turbo S is able to output 800 Nm of torque, with the overboost function, when in the Sport and Sport Plus modes.
Porsche equipped the Panamera Turbo S with a Launch Control function that when used, is able
to accelerate the car from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds. Porsche rates the top speed of the Panamera Turbo S at 191 mph, or 306 km/h.
Since the Panamera Turbo S is priced at more than 160,000 EUR, we guess its regular customers are not really concerned with its fuel consumption. However, as they might be concerned about the environment, here are the figures: in standard from, the Panamera Turbo S requires 11.5 liters of fuel for every 62 miles (100 km). If you equip the Porsche Panamera Turbo S with the Michelin
19 inch, all-season tires, its fuel consumption drops to 25 mpg (11.3 liters per 100 km).
To get the extra horsepower of the Panamera Turbo S, Porsche improved the turbochargers with titanium-aluminum turbine wheels and modified the engine control unit. The use of the innovative titanium-aluminum alloy reduces the weight of the turbine and compressor.
The equipment list of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S includes as standard the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), the Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), the speed-dependent Servotronic system, and the Sport Chrono Package Turbo.
The looks of the new Panamera Turbo S are improved through the use of the 20-inch Turbo II wheels with increased rear axle track width, the Exclusive range side skirts, and the adaptive extending four-way rear spoiler.
The Porsche Panamera Turbo S will cost you at least 167,076 Euro in Germany. The price will go higher if you start adding the various options Porsche offers.
