Subaru announced today its exhibits for the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show, which starts on November 30. The new Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept will be one of the company's highlights for this year's event. Other "stars" include the Subaru BRZ STI Concept, the 5-door 2012 Impreza Sport (G4 on some markets), and the S206, which is a very special 2006 WRX STI. Subaru's new Advanced Tourer concept follows the carmaker's "Confidence in Motion" design philosophy. It previews a future C-segment sports wagon, which promises both utility and a high-performance driving experience. Measuring 4,580 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,430mm in height, the new estate concept you'll probably offer plenty of space for both passengers and their luggage.

For their new Advanced Tourer, Subaru makes use of the Horizontally-Opposed Subaru Boxer engine with direct fuel injection and their Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) technology. Subaru’s Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) technology also plays a major role in the development of the new Advanced Tourer, which is equipped with a Lithium-ion battery. Subaru downsized their (2,500cc and 2,000cc boxer engines, to 1,600cc. This has improved the unit's fuel economy and reduced its CO2 emissions. Subaru's Advanced Tourer will send its power to all four wheels via a Lineartronic CVT transmission, with chain drive, which is mounted longitudinally for the first time.

Some of the design highlights of the new Subaru Tourer Concept include the glass roof, wood and metal styling inserts, and a special steering wheel. The new steering wheel is fitted with a large screen for displaying maps, TV programs, and Internet information.

The Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept is equipped with the company's EyeSight driving assist system, which was launched in May 2010.

We'll have more details on Subaru's new sporty tourer concept as soon as they're available.
