Subaru revealed today in Geneva the VIZIV concept, which previews a future crossover, as well as the Japanese carmaker's new design direction and technology. The concept's name, VIZIV, comes from "Vision for Innovation", which is Subaru's new philosophy. The Subaru VIZIV has a solid-looking body and a condensed cabin. At the interior, the VIZIV shows a new instrument panel concept that was designed primarily for ease of driver operation. The instrument panel shows the status of the "EyeSight" system. The VIZIV is a two-door, four-seat concept that features 100% motor-driven rear wheels. This means it has no propeller shaft. The VIZIV is powered by the new Subaru Boxer Diesel Hybrid plug-in hybrid system, which includes a 2.0-litre internal combustion engine, a Lineartronic (CVT) transmission, a front electric motor and two rear ones.

The VIZIV's front electric motor provides both motion and power generation, while the rear ones provide just drive. The VIZIV is able to select the most efficient power type for each situation. The concept's Hybrid SI-DRIVE has three drive modes: Eco-Cruise, Intelligent and Sports.

The Subaru VIZIV comes with a newly developed all-wheel-drive system called Independent-rear-motor-driven symmetrical AWD. This new system can control each of the rear electric motors independently.

The Subaru VIZIV measures 4,320 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,510 mm in height and it has a 2,640 mm wheelbase.
