The Subaru Advanced Tourer concept was unveiled today at this year's Tokyo auto salon. The new Advanced Tourer concept previews Subaru's future estate model, which will come with a turbocharged petrol engine and a hybrid drivetrain. The production version of the Subaru Advanced Tourer will be a C-segment sport station wagon, powered by a boxer engine mated to the company's acclaimed Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) technology. Environment and family friendly, the Advanced Tourer will come on the market in the near future.

With plenty of interior passenger and luggage space, Subaru's currently unnamed Advanced Tourer features a glass roof, wood and metal interior trim parts, and a large monitor.

The new display is integrated into the Advanced Tourer's steering wheel and is meant to display navigation information, TV broadcast and to offer Internet access.

The Subaru Advanced Tourer measures 4,580 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,430 mm in height. It's powered by a 1.6-liter Horizontally-Opposed direct fuel injection turbo engine, which is mated to a high torque compatible Lineartronic transmission. The new Advanced Tourer also features a hybrid system, which is powered by a Lithium-ion battery.

The hybrid drive is engaged at start-ups and during low-speed drives. It can be re-charged during braking, through the use of the internal combustion engine.

Apart from revealing the new Advanced Tourer concept, Subaru also announced today in Tokyo the EyeSight Version 2. The updated version of the EyeSight system, first launched in May 2010, comes with a broader recognition range for its stereo camera.
