Chris Harris from the British EVO Magazine released a new video showing yet another comparison test between the BMW 1 Series M Coupe and the Porsche Cayman R. The previous test we've seen compares the two performance coupes on public roads. This time however, the BMW 1 Series M and the Porsche Cayman R go head-to-head in a battle on the race track.
The Porsche Cayman R is the more expensive option between the two, with a price tag of just under 70,000 EUR. The Cayman R is powered by a 3.4-litre engine, good for 330 hp, that can take it from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds. With a top speed of 280 km/h, the Cayman R manages to win against the BMW 1 Series M, which is limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).
The BMW 1 Series M costs almost 20,000 EUR less than the Porsche, with a price tag of 50,000 EUR. Its power comes from a 3.0-liter engine the outputs 5 hp more than the Porsche.
Both high-performance coupes have the same 0-62 mph acceleration time, so they should perform almost the same on the race track.
