In an effort to promote the new generation 2011 Caddy, Volkswagen revealed today a racing version of their light commercial vehicle. The Volkswagen Caddy Racer will be unveiled today at the Commercial Vehicle Show at Birmingham's NEC where it will be presented by Simon Elliott. The Caddy Racer was introduced for the first time in 2004, and it's always been a crowd-pleaser.

The 2011 Caddy race car will compete in the 2011 Volkswagen Racing Cup which will take place at Oulton Park track on 25 April.

The Volkswagen Caddy race car is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine developing 270 PS, which are sent to the front wheels via a six-speed quick shift transmission.

It's rear axle has been upgraded too. VW's new Caddy racer has the same multi-link system as the current generation Golf.

As far as we can tell, new aerodynamic enhancements have been made for the race car. However, the VW Caddy race car shows a set of performance rims and tires and huge ventilated brake discs with red calipers.
