Volvo and Polestar revealed today the new S60 V8 Supercar, which is going to compete in the 2014 V8 Supercars Championship with drivers Scott McLaughlin and Robert Dahlgren. The Volvo S60 V8 Supercar is powered by a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that develops around 650 bhp at 7,500 rpm on E85 fuel. The engine is mated to a 6-speed sequential Transaxle transmission with an integrated spool differential. According to Volvo, their new S60 V8 Supercar is able to accelerate from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and to reach a top speed of more than 298 km/h. Volvo's S60 V8 Supercar sits on 18-innch racing wheels, a double wishbone front suspension and a control independent rear suspension (both of them fully adjustable, with the anti-roll bar controlled from the cockpit).
The Volvo S60 V8 Supercar is fitted with AP Racing brakes with 6-piston calipers and 395mm ventilated discs at the front and 4-piston calipers and 355mm ventilated discs at the rear. The car, including the driver, weighs 1,410 kg.
