This 1959 BMW 507 Roadster Series II is going to be auctioned today at RM Sotheby's in New York. The renowned auction house is expecting it to fetch between $2,300,000 and $2,600,000 USD. The 1959 BMW 507 Roadster Series II is powered by a 3,168 cc OHV V8 engine with dual carburetors that delivers 145 hp. The engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The 1959 BMW 507 comes with an independent front suspension with dual A-arms and torsion bars and a live rear axle with torsion bars. The 1959 BMW 507's minimalist design is the work of Count Albrecht von Goertz who gave a new interpretation of the carmaker's trademark kidney grille. The BMW 507 was built in just 251 units, out of which 217 were the Series II.

This particular 1959 BMW 507 comes with a black exterior and a red interior. It was completely restored back in the '80s. Over the years it had several owners, including Shane O'Neil from RKO General. This was one of the one of the five large studios of Hollywood's golden age.

The 1959 BMW 507 on auction today has the chassis number 70205.
