2011 Lotus Esprit, Seven

 »  »  »

According to recent rumors, Lotus is expected to unveil the much awaited 2011 Lotus Esprit at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. The 2011 Lotus Esprit will be joined by at least three other world premieres - the 2011 Lotus Seven and two new hybrid concepts. The 2011 Lotus Esprit, which has been held back by the development of the new Evora, will not follow the lines of the company of building lightweight models. Apparently, the 2011 Lotus Esprit will use less carbon fiber and aluminum than the other models of the brand, and will be powered by a turbo V8 engine mounted in the middle. Despite being heavier, the 2011 Lotus Esprit is still expected to fall into the supercar category, just as its predecessor.

All this new info regarding the 2011 Lotus Esprit

is pure speculation at the moment as the company has not yet confirmed any of it.

Regarding the new 2011 Lotus Seven, our sources also believe it will be heavier than its predecessor. Despite being a track car, the 2011 Lotus Seven will try to offer increased comfort and a more manageable ride. Some even speculate that the 2011 Lotus Seven will received such luxuries as air conditioning and navigation. What's even more interesting is the price of the new Seven, which is expected to fall into the 100,000 USD range. The 2011 Lotus Seven will have a front

engine rear-wheel-drive architecture and will be based on a platform developed in Spain. If it will become a reality, the new generation model will also be built there.

The two new Lotus hybrids will be based on the company's modular chassis concept and they will be a Panamera fighting four-door coupe and a two-door. The new Lotus 2-door hybrid could even see a convertible version during its life time. The powertrain of the new hybrids will be based on the Lotus Omnivore unit that uses a three-cylinder, monobloc engine which provides electricity for the motor.
