2012 BMW X4

 »  »  »

The much rumored 2012 BMW X4 is expected to be X6' baby brother, meaning it will have roughly the same coupe/SUV body lines. With the new 2011 BMW X3 launched, the X4 will most probably based on the same platform. However, the 2012 BMW X4 will have a different body style, that will look like a coupe version of the X3. This leaves us with a few questions. The space in the back in the case of the X6 is not quite sufficient for a tall person. The X3 is already smaller in size. How much space would the 2012 BMW X4 have in the back?

If the 2012 BMW X4 will be based on the same platform as the new X3, it will probably have the same engines too. This means the 2012 BMW X4 might be powered by the 2.0-liter diesel engine

in the xDrive20d, that develops 184 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, or the 3.0-liter straight 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo nit in the xDrive35i, that outputs 306 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. The more powerful 2012 BMW X4 xDrive35i will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and will have a top speed of around 250 km/h. This will give it a 8.8 litres/100 km fuel consumption and a 204 g/km CO2 emissions level. However, the company might improve those engines before the 2012 BMW X4 will hit the market, meaning that the actual units that will go into the new model could be more efficient.

We'll have more details on the 2012 BMW X4 as soon (or if) they become available.
