New information about the 2015 Civic Type R surfaced the web today, thanks to Yasuhisa Arai from Honda's Research and Development division. Previous reports said that the future 2015 Honda Civic Type R is going to have a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, with an output of around 250 hp. However, company officials confirmed today that the future Civic Type R (2015) is going to be powered by a larger 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that's expected to put out 300 hp. This is quite a lot taking into consideration that the 2015 Civic Type R is going to have a front-wheel-drive system. With 300 hp under its metal skin, the future 2015 Civic Type R hatchback is going to compete with the likes of the Mitsubishi Evo, the Subaru Impreza STi and the BMW 135i. Honda however, hopes that the future Type R (2015) is going to be faster on the Nurburgring than the Renault Megane RS.

An interesting innovation that could find its way into the 2015 Type R is all-wheel-steering, which was revealed by Honda a few months back. The 2015 Honda Civic Type R will come equipped with a limited slip differential, and a few other mechanical tricks. Honda expects to sell the 2015 Civic Type R in the UK at a price starting from 25,000 GBP.
