The Japanese carmaker has announced today that a Honda Civic Type R sales stop for many areas of Europe. In these markets, the Honda Civic Type R sales will stop from the end of 2010 because the model does not meet the Euro 5 emission regulations. In those markets where the Euro 5 standard applies, the Honda Civic Type R will be sold until the end of this year. However, the British built Honda Civic Type R will continue to be sold in those markets that do not enforce the Euro 5 emission standards.

The Honda Civic Type R was introduced for the first time, as a concept, at the Geneva motor show in 2006, and since than it has gathered quite a serious fan base. Unfortunately, the Japanese company has to disappoint those fans

because of the strict EU emissions regulations.

The Honda Civic Type R is a 201 PS 3-door that revs up until it reaches the 8,000 rpm red line. By sticking as close as possible to the edgy design of the concept, the Honda Civic Type R managed to become one of the most loved models on the market today.

Honda Press Release:

Honda has today announced that the Civic Type R will no longer be sold in many areas of Europe from the end of 2010.

The 8000 rpm, 201 PS, 3-door made its debut in concept form at the Geneva motor show in 2006. The combination of sharp edges and aggressive styling was quite unexpected after its more conservatively styled predecessor. The production version was unveiled at the Paris 2006 Motor Show, with a look that was almost identical to that of the concept shown earlier in the year.

The decision to stop sales across most of Europe

has been taken because the car does not currently meet the Euro 5 emission regulations. The introduction of Euro 5 means the Type R can only be sold up until the end of 2010 in markets where those rules apply. The exclusively UK-manufactured car will continue to be sold in markets where regulations allow it, and it will remain in production at the Swindon manufacturing plant.
