According to various sources, Fiat is working on another open top version of the 500 - the Abarth Fiat 500 Spider. The Abarth Fiat 500 Spider will be a two-seater roadster that will be powered by a 1.4-liter turbo engine developing around 180 hp. The top speed of the new Abarth Fiat 500 Spider two-seater will be around the 140 mph and early speculations say it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 7 seconds.
The engine of the Abarth Fiat 500 Spider will send its power to the wheels via an automated manual gearbox with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
For good handling in the corners, the Abarth Fiat 500 Spider
might get the same suspensions tweaks as the Esseesse version of the 500. apart from the new suspension, the Abarth Fiat 500 Spider will also get an upgraded set of brakes, a new sport exhaust and a rear diffuser. The interior of the Abarth Fiat 500 Spider will benefit from new bucket seats and new seatbelts.
The Abarth Fiat 500 Spider price is expected to fall in the 20,000 GBP category when it will hit the market in 2012.
