The production version 2013 Acura ILX had its world premiere today at the Chicago Auto Show, ahead of its market launch this spring. The Acura ILX is presented by its manufacturer as a 5-passenger luxury sedan, aimed at successful professionals in their 20s and 30s. Acura's ILX promises to combine luxury, performance and efficiency with affordability while taking into account the environment. Following this direction, the ILX features Acura's first gas-electric hybrid powertrain, which includes a 1.5-liter inline engine and an Integrated Motor Assist electric motor. Thanks to its Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the ILX Hybrid is able to offer a fuel consumption of up to 35 mph in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

The electric motor of the ILX Hybrid, which has an output of 20 hp, gets its juice from a lithium-ion battery pack. The total output of the vehicle is 111 hp at 5,500 rpm and 127 lb-ft of torque between 1,000-3,000 rpm.

The entry level ILX comes with a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine, which is rated with an output of 150 hp at 6,500 rpm and 140 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm. Thanks to its Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission, the ILX Hybrid is able to offer a 24/32 mpg EPA fuel economy (city/highway).

For customers who are looking for a more sporty experience, Acura can deliver the ILX with a 2.4-liter engine too. This version of the ILX develops 201 hp at 7,000 rpm and 170 lb-ft torque at 4,300 rpm and comes with a close-ratio, six-speed manual gearbox. This version of the ILX is rated at 20/29 mpg.

The 2013 Acura ILX comes equipped with MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension systems, Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering, 4-channel anti-lock brakes and Vehicle Stability Assistâ„¢ (VSA).

The price list of the new ILX Acura will be announced at a later date.
