The Acura ILX Concept, which had its world premiere this week in Detroit, previews the brand's future compact sedan. The production version of the Acura ILX will go on sale this spring. This means that the concept you see in these images is pretty much production-ready. The entry-level version of Acura's ILX will be powered by a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine, while the top of the range model will have a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. So far, the output figures of these units have not been announced. One thing that Acura does mention is that the ILX will be available with a six-speed manual transmission.

One of the novelties brought by the ILX Acura include a new 1.5-liter gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain.

This makes the ILS the first hybrid ever sold by Acura. The specifications of the Acura ILX hybrid are a closely guarded secret at the moment.

In terms of styling, the Acura ILX targets a professional image. It features a wide stance, a low and aerodynamic profile, as well as good visibility. One of its distinctive design features are the LED daytime running lights integrated into the front bumper.

Acura will equip the ILX with smart entry keyless access, a Start button, and Pandora Internet radio with a SMS function. The safety features of the Acura ILX will include the brand's Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, several airbags, a 4-channel ABS system, and the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system.

The Acura ILX price list and full specifications will be announced at a later date. Meanwhile, watch the new ILX concept on video lower down this page.
