This Ascari KZ1 review video was done by Richard Hammond for one of the previous episodes of Top Gear. The Ascari KZ1 had its premiere back in 2003 and has since been updated to the KZ1-R, which is bit more extreme. The Ascari KZ1 is powered by a 5.0-liter BMW V8 engine with dry sump lubrication and a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive architecture. The original Ascari KZ1 had an output of 500 bhp (373 kW; 507 PS) at 7000 rpm and 550 Nm (406 ft·lbf) of torque at 4500 rpm. The engine was mated to a proper 6-speed manual transmission.
The official performance figures say the Ascari KZ1 is able to get from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and from 0 to 100 mph in just 8 seconds.
They say the Ascari KZ1 can run the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds at 124 mph (200 km/h).
