James May and Richard Hammond Refuse To Film Top Gear Without Jeremy Clarkson

 »  »  »

A few days ago, Jeremy Clarkson hinted that he's going to quit Top Gear and the BBC for good. A few weeks ago, Jezza was suspended by the BBC after allegedly punching one of the producers. As far as we know, there is no proof, on video or otherwise, to confirm this incident. BBC's official statement said Clarkson was suspended after a "fracas" with one of the producers. After this incident, the remaining episodes of the 22nd season of Top Gear were pulled of the air. However, the rumor mill says the BBC plans to air the remaining three episodes of Top Gear season 22 after all. As you probably know, the most part of an episode is filmed quite a long time before it is aired. However, the studio parts, including the "news" and the "star in a reasonably priced car" are filmed in the week before the episode goes on air.

Apparently, James May and Richard Hammond refused to film the studio part of the last three episodes without their esteemed colleague. A BBC executive told The Mirror that May and Hammond do not want to go on doing the show without Clarkson. In the spirit of the Three Musketeers, it's "all for one". Various studies report that BBC's audience dropped by around 4 million viewers last Sunday evening, at the time when Top Gear was scheduled at.

Top Gear is the most popular and loved TV show in history. At this time, the online petition to "Bring Clarkson Back" has reached almost 1 million signatures. The question remains, does Clarkson want to go back to the BBC? In our opinion, he's not very keen on doing that. We're sure all the TV networks on this planet would do anything to get the Jezza, Hamster, Captain Slow trio to work for them.
