Aston Martin revealed today the new V12 Vantage Roadster, which is available for ordering starting today. The same as its coupe sibling, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster is powered by a 6.0-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine, that has an output of 517 PS at 6,500 rpm and 570 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. This very capable engine is able to take Aston's V12 Vantage Roadster from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds. The top speed of the V12 Vantage Roadster is rated at 190 mph (305 km/h). The car is equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox. In terms of exterior design, the roadster and coupe versions of the V12 Vantage are very similar. The main difference is the roof of course. The roadster V12 Vantage has a canvas soft-top. Unfortunately, Aston Martin does not mention the time it takes for the roof to open and close, nor the maximum speed at which it can be operated.
Taking into account the fact that it's a convertible, Aston Martin had to modify the V12 Vantage Roadster's suspension. It now comes with a modified rear damper set-up, front and rear damper valve tuning and a new rear spring design. This new setup, in conjunction with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, enable the V12 Vantage Roadster to be one of the most rewarding convertibles around.
The aerodynamics of the Aston V12 Vantage roadster include a "flip" on the boot lid, a rear diffuser with a large, center-mounted oil cooler, and a new front splitter. The splitter and the diffuser are made by hand from carbon fiber.
One of the distinctive interior features of the V12 Vantage roadster are the glass switches, located in the lower center stack. Just as the coupe, the roadster version of the V12 Vantage offers two powertrain modes: one for relaxed driving and one for when you're feeling a bit more enthusiastic.
The Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster's price is set at £150,000 RRP.
