Meet Aston Martin's fastest accelerating production car to date - the V12 Vantage S. Aston Martin says this is the most extreme road-going model they have ever created and the most powerful Vantage in the company's 100-year history. The Aston Martin V12 Vantage S is powered by an AM28 6.0-litre engine that's good for 573 PS (565 bhp) at 6,750 rpm and 620 Nm (457 lb ft) of torque at 5,750 rpm. Aston's official specifications say it can get from nought to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds (3.9 seconds 0-100 km/h). Apart from the One-77, the V12 Vantage S is also the fastest model they have ever built too. It's rated with a top speed of 205 mph (approx. 330 km/h). I bet James Bond is looking for its checkbook right about now. One of the reasons the V12 Vantage S is so quick to 60 mph is its low rev torque. Aston says they tested it and it's capable of delivering 510 Nm at just 1,000 rpm.
To send the power to the rear wheels, the V12 Vantage S uses a Sportshift III AMT (automated manual transmission). Well, a gentleman's suit doesn't really go well with sweat from changing the gears, does it? Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston's CEO, says about the V12 Vantage S that it's "the most pure, yet understated, driving machine we can imagine today".
The V12 Vantage S is equipped with the latest engine management system developed by Aston Martin, a motorsport-derived paddle shift transmission and other track-inspired parts such as CNC machined combustion chambers, and hollow cam shafts.
The V12 Vantage S also comes with 3-stage adaptive damping, and three selectable driving modes that also influence the level of power steering assistance you get. Aston Martin equips their new little "toy" with a ZF-Servotronic power assisted steering system that offers a quicker 15:1 ratio. You know what that means... You'll have your tail out faster than it takes Angus Young to lose his cap.
The downside of all this is that you'll have to pay at least USA $184,995 MSRP to get an Aston Martin V12 Vantage S. The price for the UK is set at £138,000 RRP. In Germany, and I imagine the rest of Europe, the V12 Vantage S is priced at €179,950 RRP. If you live in Dubai, a V12 Vantage S is going to leave your pockets $230,995 (US$) lighter and in Australia you'll have to empty that AU$ 389,300 account.
