After the sketches released last week, Audi finally released all the details and a huge image gallery of their latest concept, the A2. The Audi A2 concept will have its world debut next week, at the Frankfurt auto show in Germany, and it will probably spawn a production version on the near future. The Audi A2 is a four-door four-seat vehicle, designed mostly for urban use, which measures just 3.80 meters in length. The Audi A2 is powered by an electric motor, juiced by a 31 kWh (only 24 kWh are usable) lithium-ion battery mounted in the car's floor. Audi rates the output of the A2 concept at 85 kW (116 hp) maximum power(60 kW continuous) and 270 Nm (199.14 lb-ft) of maximum torque (160 Nm (118.01 lb-ft) continuous).

The Audi A2 is equipped with a front-wheel-drive system which receives the power from the motor via a single-speed transmission. The audi A2 has a maximum range of 200 km (124.27 miles) on a fully charged battery. The battery can be re-charged in 1.5 hours from a 400 volt three-phase outlet, or in 4 hours from a more conventional, 230V one. The A2 can also make use of Audi's Wireless Charging system, which is basically a contactless charging technology.

The Audi A2 can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 9.3 seconds and has a top speed of 150 km/h (93.21 mph).

The A2 is built through Audi's ASF construction method and weighs just 1,150 kilograms (2,535.32 lb) thanks to its carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) structure. The Audi A2 comes with a McPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam axle rear one. It comes with steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire technology, and a set of 18-inch wheels weighing just 2 kg (4.41 lb) each.

In terms of design, the Audi A2 meets all the requirements of the modern automotive market. It features opaque glass roof, which can be made transparent at a push of a button, and is able to

block the infrared light coming from the sun. Another distinctive design element featured by the Audi A2 includes the matrix beam LED headlights. Each LED in the headlamps can be switched on or off for optimizing the road illumination. The same matrix of LEDs is used for the tail lights too. The fog lights of the Audi A2 use five laser diodes, which improve visibility during fog, but produce invisible light in all other weather conditions.

At the interior, the Audi A2 features a unique 1-spoke steering wheel, framed by two large horns

featuring touch-sensitive surfaces used for controlling various functions of the vehicle. The Audi A2 also comes with retractable console between the seats which includes a touchpad for entering letters, and Bluetooth online car phone which can be used as a WLAN hotspot. Inside the Audi A2 you can have access to such services as Google Earth, Audi traffic information online, Google POI and Google Street View.
