Audi RS1 Info

Our German sources are reporting today the initial Audi RS1 info that says the new performance model will hit the market no earlier than 2012. The Audi RS1 will lose the front-wheel-drive system of the A1 in favor of the company's quattro all-wheel-drive system. This of course will add to the total weight of the Audi RS1, but don't worry, it will have enough power to mach the extra kg. Most fingers point to the 2.0 liter TFSI engine of the Golf GTI for the future Audi RS1. This means the Audi RS1 will develop around 220 hp, which is just above the Mini Cooper JCW - its direct competitor. The 2 liter engine of the Audi RS1 will be coupled with the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. If we compare it to the GTI, the RS1 might get from 0 to 100 km/h in around 6 seconds and up to a top speed of 250 km/h.

The Audi RS1 will have a wide body kit on, with wider fenders, new spoilers and new side skirts. Most probably the Audi RS1 will also be fitted with larger brakes, a stiffer suspension, and sport seats in the front.

We can speculate that the Audi RS1 price will be around the 25,000 EUR mark.
