Audi revealed today the three-door S1 and the five-door S1 Sportback, which will go on sale in the second quarter of 2014. The Audi S1's price is going to start at €29,950 Euros, while the S1 Sportback is going to cost you at least €30,800. For the UK market, the Audi S1 Sportback's price will start at £25,630 OTR, while the S1 is going to be priced from £24,900 OTR. We'll get straight to business. Both, the Audi S1 Sportback and the S1 are powered by the same 2.0 TFSI turbocharged engine that develops 170 kW (231 hp) and 370 Nm (272.90 lb-ft) of torque. Both of them are limited to a 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed. The Audi S1 is rated with a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of 5.8 seconds, while its five-door Sportback sibling is rated with a 5.9-second sprint from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h).
The Audi S1 Sportback is rated with a combined fuel consumption of 7.1 l/100 km (33.13 US mpg/39.8 UK mpg) and a 166 g/km (267.15 g/mile) CO2 emissions level. The 3-door Audi S1 is a bit more efficient, with a fuel economy of 7.0 l/100 km (33.60 US mpg/40.3 UK mpg) and a 162 g/km (260.71 g/mile) CO2 emissions level.
The Audi S1 Sportback comes equipped with the quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system, a hydraulic multi-plate clutch, and an electronic differential lock which is linked to the ESC.
The ESC of the S1 Sportback offers two-stage deactivation. Audi's S1 and S1 Sportback come with a retuned suspension and steering system, modified pivot bearings on the front axle, and a rear four-link suspension. The S1 and the S1 Sportback come equipped with 310 millimeters (12.20 in) brake discs, red calipers, and 17- or 18-inch alloys.
The equipment list of the S1 Sportback and of the S1 includes xenon plus headlights, LED rear lights, sport seats, brushed stainless steel pedals, electronic climate control, a six-speaker single CD audio system with auxiliary iPod connection and SD card reader linked to a 6.5-inch retractable color display, a Bluetooth interface and a Driver's Information System.. Optionally, you can equip your S1 Sportback with a convenience key, MMI navigation plus with fold-out color monitor, a Bose surround sound system, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. In comparison to the standard A1, the Audi S1 Sportback comes with more aggressive bumpers, new side skirts, a rear roof spoiler and diffuser and a new exhaust system with four tailpipes.
