BMW has released today new details and images of the BMW Z29 concept from back in 2001. The BMW Z29 was built with materials used in Formula 1 at that time and comes with in-line six-cylinder BMW M3 engine that develops 252 kW/343 hp. Some of the design highlights of the BMW Z29 include Lambo doors and Recaro bucket seats.
The two-seater BMW Z29 concept comes with a monocoque made of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic and an aluminum front module for the engine. The BMW Z29 has a front-mid-engine architecture and is fitted with a sequential M six-speed gearbox.
The BMW Z29 measures 4 meters in length and 1.265 meters in height with a total weight of 1,160 kilograms.
This gives it a 3.4 kg/hp power-to-weight ratio. The BMW Z29 manages to get from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and up to a top speed of 270 km/h. This is extremely close to supercar land.
