BMW M3 sedan gets killed off

BMW is expected to launch the new generation of the 3 Series in 2012 and the latest rumors say the future BMW M3 sedan will get killed off. Apparently, there will only be a 2012 BMW M3 coupe and convertible. Apart from dropping the BMW M3 sedan, the engine of the performance range will also be replaced with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline 6-cylinder engine with around 450 hp.

Although the company will stop producing the BMW M3 sedan, it will also bring a new body style to the 3 Series model range - the BMW 3 Series GT. Yes, GT like in 5 Series GT or Gran Turismo.

The 2012 BMW 3 Series will debut with the sedan version at first, which will be followed by the wagon in September 2012,

the new BMW 3-Series coupe in September 2013 and the convertible in March 2014.

The BMW 3 Series GT is expected to hit the market in March 2013 and will not feature the boot lid system of the 5 Series GT.
