The first official images of the new 2014 BMW M3 sedan and of the BMW M4 coupe have leaked over the web today, ahead of the models' premiere, which is scheduled for tomorrow. In terms of exterior design, the BMW M4 coupe is practically identical to the concept revealed back in August at Pebble Beach. The 2014 BMW M3 sedan however, shows a drastically changed design in comparison to its predecessor. The new BMW M3 (2014) comes with a redesigned front bumper, new headlights and front grille, a re-styled bonnet, and a re-styled rear apron. The front fenders of the 2014 M3 now show the same vents as the M4 coupe. Both, the 2014 BMW M3 and the BMW M4 shared the same engine. It's the acclaimed 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder engine, with TwinPower Turbo.

However, in the case of the 2014 M3 and the M4 this engine has been upgraded and it develops 430 hp at 7,500 rpm and 500 Nm of torque. The new M3 (2014) is expected to weigh less than 1,500 kg, which means the M4 could weigh even less. In comparison to the previous generation of the M3 sedan, the 2014 model version is expected to be as much as 25 percent more efficient in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The engine of the 2014 BMW M3 and of the BMW M4 comes with a few innovations, such as a forged crankshaft, lightweight pistons, and a closed deck design.

This improves the Bimmers' throttle response. The 2014 M3 and the M4 comes with carbon fiber reinforced plastic body parts, lightweight seats.

Even though BMW did not make it official, our sources say that the new M3 (2014) and the M4 are going to be able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in around 4.1 seconds. Their top speed will probably be electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). Early speculations say that the 2014 M3 and the M4 will offer a CO2 emissions level of less than 200 g/km and a combined fuel economy of more than 33 mpg.

The 2014 BMW M3 and the M4 will come equipped as standard with a 6-speed manual transmission. Optionally, you'll be able to equip yours with a 7-speed Drivelogic double clutch transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters and a launch control function. The new M3 (2014) and the M4 are going to offer three driving modes: Efficiency, Sport and Sport Plus. For the 2014 M3 and the M4 BMW has developed a new a singlepiece carbon fiber reinforced prop shaft, which is 40 percent lighter than a steel one. Both performance vehicles come with a revised M differential that offers up to a 100 percent lock.

The 2014 BMW M3 and the M4 will come equipped as standard with 19-inch alloys and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

We'll have all the details and images of the 2014 BMW M3 and of the BMW M4 tomorrow.
