Chevrolet revealed today the new Camaro Z/28.R race car, which is going to compete in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. IMSA's (International Motor Sports Association) Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R is going to have its racing debut in a 2.5-hour endurance race ahead of the 52nd Rolex 24 At Daytona. Chevy's Camaro Z/28.R is going to be one of the closest cars to its production version on the track. The Camaro Z/28.R shares its aerodynamic parts, engine and axle components with the 2014 Camaro Z/28. The Camaro Z/28.R is going to be raced by Stevenson Motorsports and CKS Autosport. The front splitter, the rear spoiler with wickerbill, the hood extractor vent, the rocker panels, the wheel-house extensions and the front tire deflectors of the Camaro Z/28.R are the same as the ones of the production Z/28.

The power of the Z/28.R comes from the LS7 7.0-liter V8 engine and it features the same helical-gear limited-slip rear diff too. However, the Camaro Z/28.R features several distinctive suspension components, which are required for endurance racing.
