Dacia Duster contested by French environmental activists

 »  »  »

The latest new from France says the new Dacia Duster is contested by French environmental activists who even launched a new website to support their cause (duster.fr). Apparently, the French tree huggers are upset because they believe Renault used the money they received from the French government as a financial crisis aid to develop the new Dacia Duster. They also consider the Dacia Duster emits too much CO2 and are against the company's goal of selling 20.000 of the new model in France.

The French environmental activists are saying the 20,000 Dacia Duster units will produce 50.000 tons of CO per year. For this to be true, every Dacia Duster would have to run for more than 17,000 km every year, as it outputs between 145 and 171 g/km of CO2.

The activists protested at the Geneva auto show in front of the Dacia stand, carrying various banners, but they were evacuated. It's obvious these activists have a hidden agenda, since they didn't choose the protest against various other models present at the show, which have a lot higher CO2 emissions levels.
