Ferrari premiered this week at home in Fiorano the 458 Italia Grand Am, which had its track debut yesterday at Daytona. The Ferrari 458 Italia Grand Am is based on the GT3 version of the V8 Ferrari berlinetta and was developed in collaboration with Michelotto Automobili. Ferrari's 458 Grand Am is built under American regulations to compete in the United States. Ferrari says it develops 500 hp and that it's aerodynamically less efficient than the GT version of the 458 Italia.

The Ferrari 458 Italia Grand Am features several modifications, including a 48 mm restrictor, a new braking system without an ABS an traction control, a roll-over bar and Continental tires.

The engine of the Italia Grand Am has also been limited to a maximum of 8,000 revs.

The Ferrari 458 Italia Grand Am will be tested on 26 and 27 July on Florida's Daytona International Speedway in preparation for the 2012 American championship.
