The Porsche specialists from Gemballa change their focus for a moment, and announce that they will enter the 2012 motorsport season with two McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race cars. This year Gemballa turns 30, and to celebrate this moment, they chose to enter the 2012 racing season with McLaren. Gemballa's owner, Steffen Korbach, chose Sascha Bert to be the manager of the new team. Mr. Sascha Bert, who is a racing driver and an instructor, has a rich racing experience, being a former German kart champion, Formula 3 and FIA GT driver.

Korbach said that Gemballa chose the GT3 MP4-12C because it has the potential of being a leader. The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is still a young racing car and it still has to prove itself on the

track. It's powered by a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine, which revs up to 7500 rpm and it's coupled with a bespoke 6 speed sequential transmission. Other "racing gear" featured by the GT3 version of McLaren's MP4-12C includes a carbon fiber safety cell, and a new aerodynamics package (front splitter, large fixed rear wing, larger air vents, a rear diffuser).

Gemballa will announce the drivers of the two McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race cars at a later date.
