Gumpert Apollo R and Apollo Enraged

 »  »  »

Gumpert revealed the Apollo R and the Apollo Enraged at the 2012 Geneva motor show. The Gumpert Apollo R is a racecar, while the Apollo Enraged is a special edition version of their production version. The Gumpert Apollo R is powered by the carmaker's 4.2 liter V8 engine, which, thanks to various modifications, develops 860 hp. The list of mods includes a higher supercharging pressure, ignition and control time adjustments, optimized air intake ducts and a racing exhaust system. Gumpert also had to improve the engine and gearbox cooling of the Apollo R, which comes with a spur-toothed dog ring transmission, without a clutch pedal.

For better stability and traction, the Gumpert Apollo R features a titanium blade stabilizer on the rear axle.

To get the weight of the Apollo R down to 1,100 kg, Gumpert had to strip out its interior.

The Gumpert Apollo Enraged is basically a street version of the R. It develops "only" 780 hp and it's a little bit heavier (1,175 kg). The Apollo Enraged comes with a digital LCD instrument panel, and this is about the only special feature you're going to get in this hardcore racer.

Gumpert did not announce the prices for the Apollo Enraged and the Apollo R.
