After many teaser images, Infiniti revealed today the new JX Concept, which will have its world debut at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The production version of the Infiniti JX will go on sale in the spring of 2012. Infiniti will announce the price list of the JX at a later date. The JX production version will have its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2011.

The JX Infiniti is a 7-passenger / 3-row luxury premium crossover, which promises "a real 3rd row of seats", meaning that the passengers will have plenty of room there. The design of the JX is influenced by the Infiniti Essence, which has been adapted to suit the needs of a family crossover.

Some of the JX's distinctive design features include the crescent-cut D-pillar, the headlights and front grille, and its overall greenhouse shape.

When it comes to the interior of the JX, Infiniti went for roominess, safety, advanced telematics, and what they call "innovative hospitality features". To offer easy access to the third row of seats, Infiniti designed the second one so it tilts and slides forward.

The equipment list of the JX includes a 14-speaker Bose Studio Surround sound system with Waveguide bass technology, and an advanced Connection Telematics system which can automatically synchronize your calendar with the crossover's navigation system, to guide you to your appointments. The JX will also come with Infiniti's new personal concierge service, called the Personal Assistant, which offers a 24-hour access to a live team of professionals.

For increased safety, Infiniti equips the JX with a Backup Collision Intervention system, which detects crossing objects behind the car, when the

gearbox is in reverse. In case it detects a target, the system can automatically engage the brakes to help avoid a collision. The Backup Collision Intervention comes to complete Infiniti's Blind Spot Intervention system, which already equips various models on the market today.

Infiniti did not disclose a lot of technical details regarding the JS, except the fact that it will be powered by a V6 engine and that it will be available in two versions: all-wheel-drive (AWD) and front-wheel-drive (FWD).

The exact specifications of the JX, together with its performance figures, will be made public in the following months.

Infiniti emphasizes the fact that the JX will have a "sport-tuned" continuously variable transmission (CVT), which will continue to be fuel efficient, even if it will offer faster shifting times. Infiniti says that the new CVT gearbox of the JX, when set in Sport mode, will mimic a step transmission.
