James Hetfield from Metallica Gets a Custom 1948 Jaguar

 »  »  »

Rick Dore Kustom presented this customized, hand built 1948 Jaguar at the 2014 SEMA show in Las Vegas. This amazing looking machine was commissioned by Metallica's front man James Hetfield. The car is called "The Black Pearl" and we have to admit, it is one! With its low, sinister roofline and its black exterior finish with gold accents, this 1948 Jaguar looks like the type of car a post WWII hitman would drive. Hetfield's 1948 Jaguar Black Pearl is powered by a 302ci Ford small-block engine with EFI that's mated to a C4 automatic transmission. Unfortunately, Rick Dore did not disclose the horsepower and torque output of his creation. Its performance figures (0-60 mph / top speed) figures are also kept secret.

As far as the chassis and body go, they are completely custom made.

The 1948 Jaguar Black Pearl is also equipped with disc brakes on all four corners, 5-inch Wheelsmiths artillery wheels and Coker American Classic tires. There's also an AccuAir air-ride suspension system, and a Ford Mustang steering wheels. As you can imagine, Rick Dore did not disclose the price of James Hetfield's 1948 customized Jag.
