Jeep introduced at the 2016 NY Auto Shoe the Grand Cherokee Summit and Trailhawk versions. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit aims to be the most luxurious version of the SUV, while the Trailhawk was developed to be the most capable version of the model ever produced. The price of the new models has not been announced, but Jeep says they will go on sale this summer. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit comes with a distinctive front fascia, LED fog lights, and 20-inch wheels. The Grand Cherokee Summit features a full Nappa leather interior, Laguna leather seats, a suede headliner, and illuminated door sills. The new version of the Grand Cherokee is also equipped with Active Noise Cancellation, a Harmon/Kardon 19-speaker, 825 watt amp audio system with three subwoofers, and the Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system with ELSD.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit's safety equipment includes Blind Spot Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is also equipped with Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system with a rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential (ELSD). Apart from this, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk comes with the Quadra-Lift air suspension, Select-Speed Control with Hill Ascent Control and skid plates. Jeeps says that the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk has a 36.1-degree approach angle, a 27.1-degree breakover angle, and a 22.8-degree departure angle. It offers as much as 10.8 inches of ground clearance.
