Lexus GS F Update

 »  »  »

The 2012 Lexus GS 350 was just unveiled a few days ago, and it's already starting various rumors. One of them says that the new GS model range is actually able to carry the V10 engine of the Lexus LFA. Some might say that this is just simple trivia, but if you stop and think a bit, this engine could be exactly what would the GS-F needs for fight the M5. In the recent years, Lexus has been trying to become a serious competitor in the premium market, and rival the likes of Mercedes, BMW and Audi. Apart from the regular models, Lexus is also trying to mach the German performance versions, such as the AMG models, BMW's M cars and Audi's RS versions.

The first attempt made by the Japanese carmaker to enter the high performance premium market was

the Lexus IS-F. The IS-F was developed to be a serious rival for the BMW M3, the Mercedes C63 AMG and the Audi RS4.

Since BMW has the M5 and Mercedes has the E63 AMG, Lexus too must have a model in this niche market. This is where the Lexus GS-F will come into action. Powered by the same V10 engine as the LFA, the Lexus GS-F will develop 552 bhp and 480 Nm of torque. This would be just about enough to match the Bummer and the Merc.

We'll have more details on the Lexus GS-F as soon as they're available.
