Not many of you know that 30 years ago, Lotus won the World Rally Car championship. Last week they announced their return to the WRC, with the new Lotus Exige R-GT. A mid-engine rally car which hopes to take the smile off the face of the Frenchmen from Citroen. Rally racing is all about handling, and Lotus is known for being quite good at it. However, it's been a while since a mid-engine car won the WRC. The Exige R-GT is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine, which is good for 302 hp. It comes with a 6-speed sequential gearbox, a limited slip differential, a roll cage and new aerodynamics.
The Lotus Exige R-GT is already homologated by FIA. It will race next year in Monte Carlo, Tour de Corse and San Remo, in a new category series.
