McLaren revealed today the GT Sprint versions of the MP4-12C. The McLaren 12C GT Sprint is a track-only version of the sports car, which comes with optimized aerodynamics and handling characteristics. McLaren GT Sprint 12C is built upon the same carbon fiber MonoCell chassis and it comes with ProActive Chassis Control, (PCC), Brake Steer and the carmaker's Airbrake system. The power of the 12C GT comes from the 3.8-litre twin turbo engine, which develops 625PS. The McLaren 12C GT comes with an optimized ECU, new oil and cooling systems, and the same radiator as the one of the 12C GT3. The 12C GT is equipped with the standard 7-speed twin clutch transmission. The McLaren 12C GT's PCC suspension has been modified to work with the 40-mm lowered ride height of the race car and its slick tires.
The McLaren 12C GT comes with a new body kit that includes a more aggressive front bumper, a GT3-inspired bonnet with radiator exit ducts, wider front wheel arches, a carbon fiber rear wing, a front splitter and a polycarbonate windscreen. The 12C GT sits on center-locking 19-inch OZ wheels, Pirelli slicks, and carbon ceramic brakes.
For the interior of the 12C GT, McLaren is using a FIA-approved rollcage, a fire extinguisher, a fully adjustable HANS-approved, lightweight composite racing seat with a 6-point harness. The 12C GT comes with a carbon fiber dashboard, a racing digital display and a new steering wheel.
The McLaren 12C GT Sprint's price is set at GBP £200,000. McLaren is going to deliver only 20 units of the 12C GT this year.
