McLaren announced today a series of updates for the 2013 MP4-12C, which get more power and new technology. For starters, the 3.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine of the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C now outputs 25 PS more, for a total of 625 PS at 7500 rpm and 600 Nm of torque between 3000 and 7000 rpm. The 0-62 mph acceleration time of the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C remains the same as the one of its predecessor, however, the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) drops from 8.9 to 8.8 seconds, and the 0-186 mph (0-300 km/h) sprint time from 27.5 sec to 26.5 sec. The top speed of the 2013 MP4-12C is increased by 2 mph (3 km/h). Apart from the extra power, McLaren gives the 2013 MP4-12C the new Intake Sound Generator (ISG) which allows the driver to control the amount of engine intake sound heard in the cabin (3 levels).
The 2013 McLaren MP4-12C also comes with more personalization options (colors and leather finishes), and improved ride and comfort.

McLaren improved the AUTO-lights system of the 2013 MP4-12C, which are now turned on automatically when rain is detected, and its Climate Control System.
The new version also comes with a One Touch Seat Return for the optional heated and electric seats, and a new door entry system that now features a button instead of the touch sensor. Another useful feature of the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C is the Vehicle Lift, which is able to raise the car by 40mm at the front and 25mm at the rear.
Current owners of the 2012 MP4-12C will receive some of these upgrades at no extra costs. These include:

- Revised calibration for 7-Speed SSG transmission
- Programmable Intake Sound Generator
- Headlights linked to rain sensor when in automatic mode
- Easy-Exit electric seat function incorporating Seat Return (if specified)
- New Meridian audio equalizer settings (if specified)
