Mercedes revealed today the high-performance versions of the new G Class, which include the 2013 G63 AMG and the G65 AMG. Both versions replace the previous Mercedes G55 AMG. We'll get straight to the point. The Mercedes G63 AMG is powered by the new 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine, which in this application, develops 400 kW / 544 hp at 5,500 rpm and 760 Nm of torque between 2,000 rpm and 5,000 rpm. Unfortunately, Mercedes did not disclose its 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time, nor its top speed. However, they do mention that the new G63 AMG comes with start/stop technology, which greatly improves its efficiency. Mercedes’ G63 AMG is rated with a fuel economy of 13.8 l/100 km/h (25.2 mpg) and a 322 g/km CO2 emissions level.

The top of the range 2013 G Class is the Mercedes G65 AMG, which is powered by 6.0-liter V12 biturbo nuclear plant, which develops 450 kW / 612 hp between 4,300 rpm and 5,600 rpm. Its torque output is even more impressive: 1,000 Nm between 2,300 rpm and 4,300 rpm. The G65 AMG is rated with a 17 l/100 km fuel consumption and a 397 g/km CO2 emissions level.

In terms of design, both AMG versions, the G63 and the G65, will get a few distinctive features. These include the radiator grille with double louvers, new front and rear bumpers with larger air vents, 20-inch alloys and red brake calipers. Distinctive exhaust pipes are also to be expected.

The Mercedes G63 AMG's price is set at 137,504.50 EUR, while the G65 AMG will cost at least 264,180.00 EUR. The MErcedes G65 AMG will not be availavle in the United States, nor in the UK.
