Mini Cooper unveiled the new Coupe JCW this week and they're already preparing to race it in the Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race. The new Mini Coupe JCW Endurance is powered by the standard 1.6-liter engine of the John Cooper Works version, which has been modified to output 250 hp and 330 Nm of torque with the overboost function. To get the extra horsepower out of the engine of the JCW Coupe Endurance, Mini Cooper fitted it with a modified engine management and a racing exhaust system. Mini says that the new JCW Endurance is able to get to a top speed of more than 240 km/h, but they do not mention its 0-62 mph sprint time. This racing version of the Mini Cooper Coupe weighs 965 kg, has a 2,467 mm wheelbase and a 100-litre fuel tank.
The Mini Coupe JCW Endurance comes with front
wheel drive, and a sequential 6-speed gearbox with an electronic differential lock. The independent race suspension of the MINI John Cooper Works Coupe Endurance, featuring adjustable compression and rebound, and an adjustable front strut brace is provided by KW Suspension.
When it comes to the wheels and tires of the JCW Coupe Endurance, Mini went for 17-inch racing Borbet rims and 215/45 R17 slick tires / 205/620 R17 wets from Dunlop.
The aerodynamics of the Mini Coupe Endurance are actually the standard ones of the JCW package. The John Cooper Works Mini Coupe Endurance also comes with an adjustable rear wing, a rear diffuser, a pneumatic jack, a Sparco racing steering wheel and a Drive Data Display with shift display.
For safety the Mini Coupe JCW Endurance comes with Recaro racing seats, six-point safety belts, a main switch concept with electronically controlled fire extinguishing equipment, a welded-in roll cage, a race-tuned DSC, and a MINI Challenge braking system with Race ABS.
